Hi, my name is Rainey Terpening, I am in 8th grade at Michigan Virtual Charter Academy, and Holly Elementary is my old elementary school. I heard through my little sister, Lucy Sue, that there were kids here that did not have warm gloves to wear at recess time. When I heard this, I wanted to help out my community by providing warm gloves. So, my Mom talked to Mrs. Bartlett for me to find out if there was truly a need for gloves and she said yes there was!
I am a Student Ambassador for K12 schools and I get to work with other student leaders nationwide, and be the voice of the students, learn to become better leaders and the importance of helping others in my community. I am also in Jobs Daughters and I am the Grand Bethel Marshal for the state of Michigan. Jobs Daughters is an awesome organization for girls and they do fun activities, learn to be leaders, help out our communities, travel all over the state of Michigan and make new friends. I even have friends in Australia and Canada! This year, our Grand Bethel theme is “Pay It Forward,” and Jobs Daughters partnered with the “Pay It Forward Foundation.” Through Jobs Daughters, I applied for a grant to be able to purchase warm gloves for Holly Elementary students, who are in need for them and I also did a pop can drive to earn even more money. With the $100.00 grant and the money I collected from the pop cans, I was able to purchase over $200.00 worth of warm, waterproof gloves for Holly Elementary! I would like to present these gloves to Holly Elementary and this special coin, from Jobs Daughters, to Mrs. Ortman and to ask you to “Pay It Forward” to someone else. Each coin has a unique code that will allow you and others on social media to see how your one simple act of kindness can start a chain of kindness. You just post your “Random Act of Kindness” story and then you will receive an email each time a new story is posted for this coin! I hope you share these wonderful stories online to encourage others to “Pay It Forward!” Just think of the difference we could all make by doing a “Random Act of Kindness” for someone. Each of us could make a difference in someone’s life, maybe even make a difference in this world!
